Israeli drone attacks killed at least eight Palestinians in southern and northern Gaza on Sunday, November 1, according to hospital sources cited by Al Jazeera.
Five people died and several others were wounded in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis. Gaza’s Ministry of Interior said the attack targeted police officers performing their duties. The Israeli military told the AFP news agency that it was targeting someone it described as a terrorist in southern Gaza.
In Gaza City’s Rimal neighbourhood, a separate drone attack killed at least three Palestinians, among them a four-year-old boy, sources at al-Shifa Hospital said. Al Jazeera also reported that Taj Mall was targeted.
Hamas condemned the attacks, characterizing them as a deliberate war crime. It accused Israel of targeting police to disrupt recovery efforts and destabilize Gaza. Those accusations were made in a Hamas statement, not presented as legal findings.
The attacks came amid continued Israeli military action despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire. Al Jazeera reported that more than 1,500 people had been killed in Gaza since the agreement took effect.
