Four people have died following an e-bike battery fire in a Bronx apartment, Gothamist reported Oct. 31, citing police. Two teenage boys and an adult woman died after the blaze that had already killed Zion Maine earlier in the week.
Fire officials said the battery ignited Wednesday in the kitchen of the family’s 11th-floor apartment. The e-bike was near the front door, obstructing the family’s way out. Zion died at a nearby hospital, according to city officials.
His father, 37-year-old Courtney Maine, was in stable condition Saturday. Gothamist identified the three other hospitalized family members as Courtney Maine’s two sons and his partner, Syida Adams, while noting that police had not confirmed their identities that day.
