Three shootings in Dallas’ Deep Ellum entertainment district left four people dead and approximately 15 injured early Sunday, Nov. 1, according to Dallas police, as reported by Atlanta Fox5.
Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said at a Sunday morning briefing that the injury count could change because some victims had traveled to hospitals on their own. Investigators had found no evidence linking the shootings, though detectives were still examining whether there was a connection.
The preliminary police account placed the shootings at three locations on Elm Street, Main Street and South Crowdus Street. They occurred at intervals of roughly 30 minutes to an hour following Halloween festivities.
Comeaux said additional officers were already assigned to the neighborhood for the holiday crowds. At one scene, officers less than two blocks away ran toward the gunfire. He credited officers with reviving at least one injured person while providing emergency care.
Police reported making arrests and interviewing several people, but were still determining their possible roles in the shootings. Detectives were also questioning witnesses and looking for additional suspects.
Investigators planned to visit nearby businesses for surveillance recordings and asked the public to share photos, videos and social media clips from the area. Evidence collection was expected to continue through Sunday.
