Jason Christopher Campbell, 35, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Oct. 30 after a Georgia jury found him guilty of concealing his mother’s death by burning her body, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
The Banks County verdict followed a five-day trial, according to an announcement from Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Christian. Superior Court Judge Albert Collier imposed the prison sentence.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Campbell burned the body of his mother, Marie Campbell, in January 2025 to conceal her death. She had been reported missing on Jan. 6 that year.
The investigation involved the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the FBI. Sheriff’s deputies arrested Campbell on a charge of concealing a death while investigators processed evidence following her disappearance.
The conviction concerns the concealment of Marie Campbell’s death, not a determination of how she died. As of FOX 5’s report, authorities had not publicly released her official cause or manner of death, and prosecutors had not said whether Campbell faced additional charges connected to her death.
