At least three Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on Nov. 2, according to the territory’s health officials, Reuters reported in The Straits Times. The Israeli military had not immediately commented on the reported attacks.
Two strikes in Khan Younis killed two people and injured six, medics said. They reported another death in an airstrike on Al-Mussadar.
The deaths come amid intensified Israeli strikes in recent weeks. Israel accuses Hamas of replenishing its weapons and carrying out attacks in breach of the ceasefire. Hamas denies those accusations and says Israel is undermining the peace agreement.
The U.S.-brokered truce, reached the previous year, envisages Gaza’s eventual reconstruction. But negotiations remain stalled over Hamas’s disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli troops, Reuters reported.
Israeli forces control roughly two-thirds of Gaza and have ordered residents to leave those areas. Almost all of the territory’s more than 2 million residents are crowded into the remaining third, which remains effectively under Hamas control. Most live in makeshift shelters or damaged buildings amid the destruction.
Gaza health officials put the Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks since the ceasefire at at least 1,580. Israel says four of its soldiers have been killed during that period.
