Senator Ahmed Wadada, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Nigeria’s Nasarawa State, has promised to resolve communal clashes across its 13 local government areas if elected in 2027, The Punch reported.
Wadada made the pledge on Saturday at a gathering in Akwanga, where Tiv community representatives from the Nasarawa North Senatorial District endorsed his candidacy and backed incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule for the Senate. Stakeholders and farmers at the event also supported President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the National Assembly, said he would bring people together to find solutions to farmer-herder clashes. He argued that resolving the conflict would also help the state produce enough food.
He pledged transparent, accountable and inclusive government, and said security would be central to his HEARTS Agenda. His stated priorities include human capital development, economic growth, agriculture, rural transformation, technology and investment.
Barnabas Zayol, president of the Tiv Development Association in Nasarawa, said the endorsements reflected confidence in Wadada, Sule and Tinubu. He said Tiv voters in the northern zone would support APC candidates, citing efforts to address communal problems.
Sule, represented by Works and Transport Commissioner Yakubu Kwanta, thanked the Tiv community for supporting his administration. Wadada praised the governor’s record and promised to build on it if elected.
